Hanuman Bola Remixes Vinyl Art Album Review: Hanuman Bola Remixes

Sleazetone Records house darling, Hanuman, dropped a six track EP, Bola Remixes, on June 22, 2010 to mostly glowing reviews. Taking help from other DJs currently slaying the dance floor, Bola Remixes is a joint with manipulations of the same (“Bola”) with each DJ adding their own flavor, some without sirens, but most of them come with that familiar (and dreaded) woo woo woo of Johnny Law.

Star Eyes, Chrissy Murderbot, Kanji Kinetic, Thunderous Olympian, and Noritt team up with Hanuman for a 27-minute dance party that doesn’t let up. If you’re feeling trance-y for dinner and want some break beats for dessert, this is the plate for you. Bola Remixes is hard and fast rapid-fire electronica crafted for the die-hards.

What the record has in speed and intensity, it lacks in variation, though. Yes, yes, we’re supposed to get lost in the song, but Bola Remixes could quite literally be one track. Each artist gets their own take on “Bola” but could have pushed it further to set each track apart.

That said, Bola Remixes is an infectious start to any night out. Catch up with the Europeans and get on this record.
