Muse Planning To Record New Album In 2011
By Travis Woods
Well, brace yourselves for the inevitable, music fans – the juggernaut known as Muse, when not busy inspiring an insipid series of poorly-written and waterlogged novels that then go on to be adapted into an even more insipid series of films constructed solely to capitalize on teenage girls’ hormonal instability and ability to spend money, is planning to reenter the studio and record a new album featuring even more of the emotional and sonic depth, subtlety and nuance we’ve all come to know and love them for.
According to Spinner, Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme stated that the band plans to continue touring until the end of 2010 and then “we’ll definitely start working on a new album next year.” However, before all of you Muse fans start chomping at the bit for a new disc laden with all the intensity of a gape-mouthed and blank-eyed Kristen Stewart close-up, note that the band is going to take a long-overdue break (thank you, thank you, thank you): “It’s something we’ve never done. I think the most time we’ve had off is about six weeks in the last 12 years, so we’re due a break.”
But don’t worry – Muse will return in 2011 with all the overblown theatrics and unintentional parody we’ve all grown to grudgingly tolerate. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to don my helmet and flak jacket in preparation for the inevitable “u r an idiot, muse rulz!” comments.
Are you excited about a new Muse record?

ur an idiot… Muse rulz!!
But seriously…

Depends. If they go back to their OoS style brilliance, then they might give all the new fan-girls cognitive dissonance.

I can't wait for a new album by Muse. I will be happy they will return to Absolution/ Origin Of Symmetry/Black Holes and Revelations style. It's not that I mind The Resistance, but I want more of the powerful, nitty-gritty, solid Muse that non-teenage Twilight fans know an love. I'm talking Plug In Baby, Citizen Erased, Assassin, Map Of The Prolematique….

DON'T FORGET STOCKHOLM SYNDROME OMG!!

well music does not just put their songs in teen flicks ,they sing about the dangers of the new world order ,yeah anti-globalism is not a trendy teen thing.

I want them to go back to the old style they had when making BHaR, OoS, Absolution and perhabs a bit of the crazyness from Showbiz, which is an album filled with great riffs. The Resistance works, but… if they continue like that I'm not sure how long they will remain on the top as one of the best and most original bands in the world. It's OK, but it's not brilliant as their three best studio albums I mentioned first.

I feel bad you were expecting a ton of comments on your lame little blog here. But apparently, nobody seems to care what you think about Muse. So… here ya go- "lol" "you're so funny." "Man, you're such a sarcastic writer!" Not
(pitty comment)

your failed stereotype makes me laugh. Muse is, as music goes nowadays, one of (of not the) most intelligently bands/artists out there. Twilight is absolutely awful, and Muse was doing wonderfully without them, but our dear Ms. Meyer wanted to include them, and now we have loads of Twihards strapping themselves along for the ride. Silly internet person. Muse is rock for CLEVER people.

I laughed at the unintentional Muse-pun ("long *overdue* break). Aside from Twilight, all of your sarcastic, deprecating remarks referred to things that we love the band for. Also, I just read through the comments, and it strikes me that one would be hard-pressed to find another band whose fans use phrases such as "failed stereotype", "anti-globalism" and "cognitive dissonance".
As Erik says, Muse is rock for clever people.
Also, Map of the Problematique changed my life. That is all.

I'm not sure where all the hostility is coming from in this article. Muse may not fit your taste preference, but they're certainly not a lazy band. I've never seen a Twilight film, and I'm sure a lot of rapid fans overseas haven't either, so let's not pretend teen-age girls are the only reason this band is doing so well. If you've actually seen them perform live, you just can't knock their talent and ability to deliver a quality show..

MUSE!!!

Oh, woe, you're insulting the intelligence of all Muse fans. What I take you to be actually doing, however, is that of insulting the intelligence of some Muse fans who incidentally happen to adore those "poorly-written and waterlogged novels that then go on to be adapted into an even more insipid series of film" you so lovingly described. Try not to overgeneralize in the future, dearie. Twilight disgusts me too

What can I say, I am an educated 44 year old woman who has seen MUSE every where in the world most recently in Raleigh, NC 10/26/10 with my next show being in Buenos Aires, Argentina 3/30/11. Yes, with U2 who I like to say are closing for MUSE. These guys are proven muscians.

I DO NOT WANT A NEW ALBUM THAT SOUNDS LIKE UNDISCLOSED DESIRES. >.< Please, don't. I want something that is like… Origin if Symmetry or Absolution! Something that has ROCK in it, guys…

I don't know whats the problem with The Resistance, great album, and it is great because they keep growing and making music about what we're living right now, and every single song since Showbiz keep sounding different, I'm so very proud of being a MUSE fan. And the next album will not be as the others for one single reason they're MUSE and they always make something NEW!

You're totally right! I've been in one show only and they're the best, really if i could i would go and see them 1000 times! and that would never be enough. Muse been great since Rocket Baby Dolls.

Well, people before me have got it. Muse is rock for the ones who are clever. Ones who recognise pure talent and man… have u heard their songs. U got one thing right. They ARE emotional. But in an inspiring and powerful way, not some soppy band that produces songs for heartbroken teens. Songs like MotP (such a good song…) are what keeps me going in life. Its not our fault our esteemed author ms. Mayer is a Muse fan (which is in fact a very good thing). Muse were huge before twilight was even thought of. It isnt easy to earn teh reputation of being known as the 'worlds best live band'. Muse suits everyone in their own way and if it suits Twilight in the process, theres nothing to do about that

I want classic muse again! I want the new album to have brilliant, fast bass rhythms like in Futurism and Hysteria! I want Matt’s spiky coloured hair again! I want more hilarious antics on stage! Please go back to pre-twilight muse!!!!

I first heard Muse, unknowingly, in the film of Twilight. Unbeknownst to me, I continued to listen to classical music, a great deal, until I discovered I was warring a temptation to listen to some rock like I'd heard in the film. I put this off until a friend of a friend at school mentioned she was listening to The Resistance. I walked home, and bought Origin of Symmetry. I loved it. This was the first time I'd seriously listened to anything other other than classical music, and I realised it was great! The next album I heard, many moons later, was HAARP. Again, I loved it. From then it was a downward spiral. Listening to the Resistance, I enjoyed many of the songs. I heard some of Black Holes and Revelations, and thought it was good, but not as good, it was lacking something. Then from there to Hullaballoo, to Showbiz.
I worry about where they're going. I realise they're taking a real journey into their music, but I hope it brings them out at OoS, and not more of the weak and uninspired music we've come to hear. Hopefully, there'll be a new album, maybe not the one they're recording this year, but maybe in 2012 or '13, that'll return to the hard riffs and beautiful singing of the first Muse I heard.

They may be over played or over hyped in europe and stuff….. but here in North America, only people who really appreciate music know about this band! I don't care if twilight has created a tween following to this band because the band is good and ACTUALLY HAS TALENT!! Unlike %90 of the crap heard on the Radio here… I would like to take this opportunity to, on behalf of all of Canada, apologize for Nickelback…

Yes, I AM a teenage girl, and yes, I've READ Twilight. And I liked it! And when I read the thank-word or whatever, in which Stephenie Meyer tells about her love for Muse, I liked it even more. But then came that horrible, horrible, horrible movies (with amazing, amazing, amazing music
). That's where it started to suck a little bit.
There's no band like Muse in the universe. Muse will rock forever!!! With or without the Twihards.
