DowntownUnion: BeatCrave Fav

There’s no doubt that Los Angeles is a never-ending sea of bands just wading in and out of the water until they get noticed for their “big break.” However, when you do come upon one of those bands who actually have the raw talent, that sea becomes quite the charming pond. There are many bands making the mistake of burying the heart of the band underneath image, branding, and income but Downtown/Union is not one of them. Like the bus station they’ve named themselves after, they know which honest route they’ll be taking with every song.
We previously highlighted Downtown/Union in our Silverlake Jubilee reviews, but that snippet was unfortunately less than the amount of attention they truly deserved. As a band who’s been around much longer than many of the “it” bands that emerge out of LA, these guys have the tenacity to make music among their friends such as The Henry Clay People, The Parson Red Heads, The Monolators and more that isn’t covered in unnecessary frills. Great melodies on top of garage rock anthems in the purest form is what you get with Downtown/Union and it’s also the reason why they’ve been inducted into our BeatCrave Fav series.
