Arcade Fire To Stream Madison Square Garden Show Live On YouTube

There’s no doubt that YouTube will continue to give us endless hours of entertainment (no matter how much nonsense it can all be), but bands such as Arcade Fire are taking advantage of this free medium for their fans. In the past few years, streaming live events have been have become quite easy with the right equipment whether it’s a heavy duty camera or just a laptop. We’ve seen numerous festivals such as Bonnaroo and Pitchfork Festival reach out to fans around the world with free performances. The National even streamed one of their shows at the famous Madison Square Garden on YouTube and you guessed it – Arcade Fire is following suit.

On August 5th, Canadian band Arcade Fire will be performing their concert at Madison Square Garden and it will be a live webcast. So don’t worry if you can’t get tickets. The cameras at the venue will do all the work for you and all you have to do is grab your favorite bag of potato chips (or other snacks that aren’t so wholesome) and plop down in front of your computer. However, what we unfortunately can’t conclude or state as a fact is who Arcade Fire has hired to direct the magnificent webcast. Rumors that were circulating earlier today included Spike Jonze (because he may have directed the video above) but there has been no confirmation which has led to its debunking. Now certain sources are guessing Jonathan Demme. All we know according to Gorilla vs. Bear is that it will definitely be “directed by a well-known, as-yet-unnamed luminary.” Luminary or not, experiencing an epic concert by Arcade Fire without having to purchase tickets is generally acceptable on its own terms!
