The long-running doom-rock slapfight between down-tuned, guitar-slinging badass Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne, former Prince of Darkness/ current shuffling, synapse-collapsed reminder that even the coolest rock stars can be transformed into a toothless commodity, has finally ended according to Entertainment Weekly.  The two Black Sabbath bandmates have been battling since May of 2009, when Osbourne sued Iommi, claiming that the Sabbath guitarist had named himself the sole owner of the band’s name and brand.

And now the year-long fight has come to an end.  While details are not clear, a spokesperson for Osbourne issued a statement today claiming that the hard rock fracas has resolved itself:

“Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi of the legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath have amicably resolved their problems over the ownership of the Black Sabbath name and court proceedings in New York have been discontinued. Both parties are glad to put this behind them and to cooperate together for the future and would like it  to be known that the issue was never personal, it was always business.”

Upon hearing the news, Osbourne was reported to have mumbled a stream of near-unintelligible obscenities occasionally punctuated by his wife’s name or a random Beatles song.  He then fixed the nearest person in the room with a steely, blank-eyed stare which reportedly lasted 45 minutes.
