Chris Isaak To Become New American Idol Host?
By Travis Woods
Because America is waiting with bated breath on the edge of its collective seat to discover who the new host of American Idol will be (now that we can all relax about the casting of Jersey Shore season three, that is – thank God those negotiations settled amicably for The Situation and company!) , it was announced today that singer/ big hair enthusiast Chris Isaak is in the now in the running for the top spot on the music-based TV show.
According to Billboard, Isaak has met with the Fox Network twice, leading many to believe he is a top contender to take departing host Simon Cowell’s job for the tenth season, as Cowell will be departing to spend more time blackening his soul, fashioning ever-tighter T-shirts, and continually sharpening the edges of his perfect-square hair cut (seriously, did you ever notice that? It’s geometrically perfect!).
Says Billboard:
“As for replacing Cowell, the network has met with a fair number of candidates.
“Isaak, in addition to penning hit songs like 1989′s “Wicked Game,” has appeared in a slew of TV series over the years, including “Eastwick,” “Cold Case,” “Smallville” and his own “Chris Isaak Show” for Showtime.
“Another affable crooner, Harry Connick Jr., also has been considered.
“Rocker Bret Michaels was given the once-over and even lobbied for the job last week in an HLN interview (“I would love to do it, I would really bring it to the table,” Michaels told Joy Behar). Sources say, however, that Michaels is out of the running.”
Well – while I’ve never actually watched an episode of American Idol, I can in good faith say that combining it with the force that it Bret Michaels would be a collusion of pop culture cheese of such epic proportions that the resultant shockwaves would probable destroy everything from here to at least Jupiter. So let’s stick with Isaak, ok?
What do you think–would Chris Isaak make a good host?
