Pitchfork 2010: Raekwon
By Andy KeilWhile it wasn’t quite Wu-Tang Clan, Raekwon was the closest that the Pitchfork Music Festival could get to the iconic hip-hop group in 2010. Raekwon is just one part of the nine person group (used to be ten until Ol’ Dirty Bastard passed away in 2004). Other members include RZA, GZA, Method Man, Ghostface Kilah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna if you listen to Wikipedia. Not quite as well known among hipsters as say Method Man, Raekwon is an absolute staple of hip-hop culture.
Raekwon was supposed to take to the stage at 4:15pm but due to some sound problems that seemed to be plaguing several other stages at the festival (Dam-Funk as well) he didn’t hit the stage until closer too 4:35pm. After the wait the sound still wasn’t perfect which had Raekwon asking the crowd to “throw your deuces in the air if this shit pisses you off too.” He also treated the crowd to a freestyle later on when the sound cut out again. Overall, Pitchfork wasn’t ready for Wu-Tang but we’ll hold out for 2011 headliners?
