Justin Timberlake Not Interested In American Idol, Continues To Pursue Acting Career
By Seraphina L.
There’s been a lot of hushed whispers concerning who the replacement for Simon Cowell will be on American Idol. The judging table is now uneven with only Kara DioGuardi, Ellen DeGeneres and Randy Jackson waiting for the fourth voice in the TV show. There’s been rumors of Jazz crooner, Harry Connick Jr., and Roots rocker, Chris Issak, so far. Who’s the the latest to be thrown into this frenzy now that the deadline (in September) for a new judge is coming up?
Two pop stars each in their own right: Justin Timberlake and Elton John. Are they still only rumors? Pretty much. Find out why after the jump!
First off, Elton John’s reps are scoffing a bit at industry people even mentioning John’s name in regards to availability. According to Deadline (via Billboard), his UK publicist, Gary Farrow, explained it in quite blunt but honest words: “This story’s three months old… Elton’s got commitments right up until next year. As we stand at the moment, Elton has no plans to do that show.” So, Elton John’s out of the picture.
As for the pop star of a newer generation? Justin Timberlake’s reps are also denying the circulating rumors and have an attitude toward the show that is very similar to those of John’s people. Although Timberlake is still contributing to the music industry by mentoring his YouTube sensation, Esmée Denters, who is now an artist on his Interscope imprint Tennman, the once N’SYNC member has turned his focus toward the acting realm for a while.
So Alpha Dog doesn’t quite make the list for best movies of all time. (In fact, it was down right annoying to see Timberlake try to be so “gagsta.”) The Love Guru looked painful enough to cross off your rental list. However, he’s got a ton of upcoming films on his slate. Timberlake is set to star in the The Social Network which is you guessed it – about Facebook. He’s also the voice for Boo Boo in the upcoming Yogi Bear film and now according to our sister site, ScreenCrave, he just might be starring alongside Amanda Seyfreid in the sci-fi thriller, I’m Mortal. Oh yeah, apparently he’s also directing tequila commercials with all that sexy he claimed to have brought back.
If that isn’t enough proof, his reps are saying the idea of him becoming a permanent Idol judge is “just silly.” It’s probably for the best, girls (and boys). We don’t want this happening again.
What do you think about this American Idol nonsense? Also, do you think Timberlake will even last as an actor?
