Best New Music Video of the Week: The Hundred in the Hands
Jul 30, 2010 - By Mary Kosearas
Time for our pick of favorite music video of the week! There are a lot of music videos that come out each week so it’s a good thing we’re here to judge! This week’s pick was chosen for the following…
- Most interesting interpretation of wasted: 9/10
- Really tells a story: 9/10
- You’ve been there (or know friends that have): 9/10
And the pick of the week is…
The Hundred In The Hands: Pigeons
“Laughing like a right loon/slavering at the silvery moon/ waiting for the room to fall in.”
I almost didn’t make it past the first 30 seconds of the video, but immediately after that 30 second mark (0:31 to be exact) the video takes a dazzling turn in a magically new direction.
After a night of too much, a girl is left wandering through a daze of utter nonsense. Ripping through the crowds, she stumbles and soars through dirty streets and empty roads until she comes face to face with a force much bigger than herself. Even after the sparks, the collision and her beautiful explosion into a dark sky, our heroine wakes up outside on an ledge, as if nothing but a hangover had happened.
This Brooklyn duo recently released their video for “Pigeons” earlier this week from their forthcoming self-titled album, The Hundred in the Hands. This brilliant video was directed by DANIELS for Warp films. When the video was released, the duo went to their website to express their amazement with the new story Daniel and Daniel were able to create. I can’t help but agree with the band. Great song. Great video.
