Ah, another summer festival to feast our eyes and ears on! Lollapalooza is officially here this weekend and we’ll be there covering the event with interviews, live reviews and photo galleries. Make sure to keep checking back all weekend because we’ll be sharing the musical wealth with all our lovely readers.

If you’re on your way to Lollapalooza and are excited but haven’t exactly pinned your schedule down yet, no worries! To start you off, we’ve listed our top five artists that are a must-see at this weekend’s Chicago festival. Take a look and see if any of your favorite artists are included below!

5. Soundgarden

It’s somewhat amazing that Soundgarden is even an option for Lollapalooza festival goers this year. What started out as a rumor actually came true. Chris Cornell is back with the band and when we say the band, we mean the band that is actually Soundgarden. (This ain’t no Audioslave.)  Not only will this be a nice nostalgic dip into great 80s and 90s music, but who knows when Soundgarden will truly tour together like this again? If you’re stressing from trying to decide whether you’re going to spend your time with Arcade Fire or Soundgarden on Sunday night, we highly recommend catching the beginning of Soundgarden at the very least before you bop on over to Arcade Fire.

4. Devo

Devo is one most iconic bands in history and it’s not just because they chose to wear red flower pots as hats. There isn’t a music fiend in the world who doesn’t know the genius of that simple bass line in ‘Whip It” but their music goes beyond that. Their different mixtures of punk, art rock and new wave have kept acult following and it probably has a lot to do with their live shows which offer deadpan humor and satirical commentary.

We know that Santigold produced some material on their new album, Something For Everybody, so it should be interesting to hear what they’ve still got to offer as they perform the new material. If you want to see this band for the sake of 80s genius, that’s fine. However, we guarantee you won’t regret spending your time for an entire Devo set if you’re looking forward to a great, timeless show. Come on, it’s Devo!

3. Raphael Saadiq

Whether you know him from Tony! Toni! Toné!, Lucy Pearl or The Ummah, Raphaeal Saadiq – or Ray Ray as fans like to call him – has been one of the generous contributors to the soul, R&B and hip hop genre of our generation. As a singer, songwriter, producer and performer, Saadiq’s influence on today’s music is undeniable. If you’re not seeing Gospel legend, Mavis Staples, Ray Ray is the next best thing because he’s going to bring it at Lolla – and he’ll be bringing it with some flavor.

2. Arcade Fire

The Suburbs are still fresh on our minds, especially now that the album has been officially released. Arcade Fire has definitely experienced with some different genres in an attempt to expand their sound but their third studio album still maintains those core melodramatic, dark, swooping and intricate arrangements they’ve made so famous.

The Montreal-based band may be among the many Canadian bands who have so many band members on stage, you’re surprised they all fit on there. However, their live shows are nothing less than majestic and you’d be a fool to miss out on hearing their new material in a live setting. Win Butler and Régine Chassagne are a winning couple who lead a fantastic band writing some of the most epic new songs in indie rock.

1. Lady Gaga

Sure, we may rip on Lady Gaga from time to time for being ostentatious, outrageous and just downright outlandish sometimes. However, no other pop star is currently doing it quite like her. The shock factors keep coming to give everyone a reason to keep talking about her latest stage antics.

Besides the fact that The Fame Monster churned out even better pop content and better music videos to go along with those melodies, she’s just released Lady Gaga: The Remix just in time for her headlining slot at Lollapalooza this weekend. Even if you’re not a fan of her music, seeing her on stage may be one of the most entertaining acts of the weekend. Who knows what she’ll try to pull on Friday?

Those are our five must-see acts at Lollapalooza 2010. What are yours?
