Kings Of Leon Rejected Offers From Glee, Ugly Betty

When not battling pooping pigeons, Kings Of Leon also find time to shoot down requests to appear on popular television shows, as well as putting the kibosh on really popular television shows that want to feature their music.
The band, speaking in the new issue of NME, reveal that they said no to an Ugly Betty cameo and having their music used on Glee.
Bassist Jared Followill said:
“We got an offer to appear on an episode of Ugly Betty. They wanted us to play ourselves. We were supposed to come in and help her out with some problem or other.”
Kings Of Leon also made known they had rejected an offer from Glee, with Jared saying: “We could have sold out so much more. We turn stuff down contantly.”
But Glee? Glee is huge. Hello!
I’m sure many KOL fans are glad the band decided to side-step the powerful tractor beam that is the hit TV show Glee. Sure, it might help sell a few more CDs, but let’s applaud KOL for sticking to their not-gonna-sell-out-yet guns.
But(!), let the record show that the band did lend three of their songs to a season two episode of Gossip Girl, back in 2008. You could make the case it was pre-Grammy success and overall worldwide super fame, but they still sold-out before they decided not to sell-out. Kings of Leon are now and forever part of Gossip Girl’s TV history – and that’s what happens when you dance with the marketing devil.
Oh, and about the pigeons and the pooping. The band has rescheduled the infamous show at the Verizon Amphitheater in St. Louis – the scene of the crime! – for September 25th. It seems those troublesome pigeons have been…removed.
In case you forgot, Kings of Leon were forced to stop their show after just three songs when the attack of the birds became too much to deal with.
