Listen to Trent Reznor’s Song For The Social Network
By Krystal Clark
In July it was announced that Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor would be lending his musical talent to the score of The Social Network. If you’re not familiar with the film, it’s a semi-biographical account of the founding of Facebook. It includes plenty of sex, drugs, and computers and in this case a haunting score by a rock-god. Take a listen to one of the songs below…
Take a listen and tell us what you think…
Is this some cryptic sh*t or what? We would expect nothing less from Reznor. Do you think this falls in line with the other work he’s done outside of Nine Inch Nails?
The Social Network is based on the book, The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal, which tells the story behind the controversial birth of the website. It stars Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Joe Mazzello, and Rashida Jones. The film’s screenplay was written by award-winning writer Aaron Sorkin.
The Social Network is directed by David Fincher and is scheduled to hit theaters on October 1st.
What do you think of Reznor’s song for The Social Network? Do you think it’s a good fit?

Nothing like 4 minutes of some good old fashioned white noise. Man I hope the other songs are better.

1. "Do you think this is a good fit?" – really? You ask this question to people who haven't seen the movie? That's like saying, "I'm going to write a movie. Think I should put a Brian Eno song in it?"
2. This isn't a song. It's soundtrack music. He's scoring, not writing an album.

1. The premise, the trailer, and the book are available and people know of it. The subject matter is common knowledge. Soundtracks are typically released prior to a films release. That alone would give anyone a BASIC idea of whether or not it fits.
2. This is a musical score that will be featured in the film. You compose music to make a song. You can have a song without lyrics.

A song is different from a score. Also, song's are often meant to be sung. This is a score. It's out of context without it's moving pictures. For all we know this long intro carries lots of dialog on top.
