FYF Fest 2010: Delorean

Delorian CP 9 4 2010a FYF Fest 2010: Delorean

It was unbelievably difficult for me to leave the !!! (Chk Chk Chk) set early, but the thought of finally seeing Delorean live was keeping my adrenaline at a good fast pace. The excitement had been building up ever since I knew this would be a great night of dancing. The pre-FYF party had Delorean headline the night before but because the event was almost two hours behind schedule, I had to rely on one fantastic set at the actual event.

However, my energy was drastically hit when I walked over from the fun !!! set only to realize that School of Seven Bells were still on the Sequoia stage.

Not only were SVIIB still on stage but they also played much longer than they were supposed to. I’m not sure if the band couldn’t see the soundboard guys in the back because it was so dark but I did know that they were still playing when Delorean was supposed to be setting up. Although I am a fan of SVIIB on record, I didn’t have to see them live again to know that all the band members were standing still as statues.

So when Delorean also took much too long during their soundcheck, my heart sank even more. Originally set to perform at 10:10 pm, it was already 10:40 and they still haven’t started. This tardiness particularly worried me because it was cutting into my Rapture time. However, I had wanted to see Delorean live for so long I decided to tough out it.

Was the wait worth it? Absolutely, positively, yes. Once they started playing “Stay Close,” the fact that I was smashed up against the front crowd like a little sardine wasn’t even a bother anymore. These boys from Spain know how to do electronica and they do it hard without any mercy. If I seemed to be raving about !!!, then I can say that every sound and pulse Delorean produced during their set was completely euphoric.

Those who saw Delorean twice in one weekend were the lucky ones!

Haha, I'm with you on Delorean. I'm writing about their pre-party fest right now and think that might have been one of the best moments of the fest.
