Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ To Be Adapted Into Feature-Length Film
By Travis Woods
So… this is happening. Because no corner of the late Michael Jackson’s life, history or pop mythology will be spared from the vise-like hands of commerce that work to wring the last desperate drops of money out of his untimely death (which, apparently, was the best possible career move for MJ, in terms of dollars), Spinner reports today that the classic Jackson track “Thriller” is to be adapted into a full-length film. Because, you know, that whole classic “Thriller” music video just wasn’t good enough.
“Attached to the project is Kenny Ortega, whose career in the music-film adaptation genre is rather impressive, as is his work with Jackson’s material. He directed 2009′s ‘This Is It’ film that looked at the last days of Jackson’s rehearsal for what would’ve been a 50-night stand at London’s O2 Arena. Other highlights of Ortega’s career include the ‘High School Musical’ series and working as a choreographer on ‘Dirty Dancing.’
“In adapting the song to film, also attached is writer Jeremy Garelick, who found success with ‘The Hangover.’ The plot is said to center around horror legend Vincent Price, who performs the zombie voiceover during the song.”
No word yet on whether or not zombie Michael Jackson will star as himself (hey-ohh, rimshot!), or if they’ll just stick another one of Will Smith’s seemingly endless supply of eerily fame-hungry kids in this thing as ‘New Michael.’
What would you think of a full-length “Thriller”-based film?

Yeah, I'm thinkin it'll be one of Will Smith's kids as the "New Michael" cause it don't look to me like the "Zombie's" batteries are quite fully recharged yet. When is Haley's Comet due to return to near Earth orbit again? Maybe then. Then again, maybe not. Who knows.

Mike's alive – this is it! TII – Thriller 2! This is a "real life thriller."

I don't see the need for Thriller 2. It'll probably be rubbish anyway. You cant improve upon perfection! Anyway, how can you make a Michael Jackson video without Michael Jackson? No actor will be as good as him and no amount of computer effects will ever be able to come close to him. Also, Michael's personality cannot be copied. His personality was different to other people's. I don't know anybody with a personality remotely like him so it is impossible to replicate on a film.
