Two New Michael Jackson Tracks Aren’t Worthy of the King of Pop

Looks like not even death could stop Michael Jackson from releasing music. In the eyes of some, however, that might not exactly be a good thing. To promote a new collection of previously unreleased tracks named Michael, listeners have been treated to a new single entitled “Breaking News.” Unfortunately, there aren’t too many who think it’s all that good; “Billie Jean,” this ain’t…

And then there are the “conspiracy theorists who might be on to something” who are suggesting that we’ve all been Milli Vanillied and the voice on the track does not even belong to Jackson. Sony is adamant that the King of Pop recorded all the songs on Michael, but members of his family believe that a sound-a-like was hired for the tracks. Listeners can make up their own minds, although it is strange that the lyrics mention the word “obituary.”

Then, of course, there is “Opis Done, a song so half-assed that those in charge couldn’t even bother to spell “opus” correctly. It was released through JacksonSecretVault.com and is not a new song at all, but rather a tedious remix of an old Jackson Five track called “Destiny.”

Before going off the deep end and turning into either an eccentric man-child or a horrible criminal–the jury will be out on that one forever–Jackson was the biggest pop star in the world. We’d say that no one should undo that legacy simply to make a few bucks, but isn’t making a few bucks what pop music has often been about?

What’s your take on these new tracks? Are you excited to have some more Michael Jackson music, or could you do without it? Tell us in the comments!
