Elton John Became A Father On Christmas Day
By Travis Woods
Elton John and his partner of 17 years, David Furnish, got something a little better than tube socks or a $5 Barnes and Noble giftcard (sigh, thanks great-grandma) for Christmas this year—a newborn baby. The baby, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, was born via a surrogate mother on December 25th, according to Spinner:
“We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment,” John, 62, and Furnish, 42, said in a joint statement released to Us Magazine on Monday. “Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are proud and happy parents.”
Weighing in at seven pounds and 15 ounces, Zachary Jackson Levon Rodham-Clinton Romijn-Stamos-O’Connell Furnish-John is the couple’s first child—they had attempted to adopt a young Ukranian orphan, Lev, 15 months ago, an attempt which was denied by the Ukranian government.
Spinner also points out something of note: one of the baby’s middle names is Levon, a nod to John’s 1970’s hit “Levon,” in which the titular character was also born on Christmas day. Also, no word yet on what trendy baby-clothes the child will be forced to wear, but it really couldn’t be any worse than this.
What do you think of Elton John and David Furnish’s Christmas surprise?
