Music fans throughout the world have spent the past few weeks worrying over the health of legendary singer Aretha Franklin, whose battle with pancreatic cancer has been in and out of the news since her reported hospital stay. Well, we’re sure she appreciates the fact that people are concerned about her well-being, but according to UsMagazine.com, the singer wants a little privacy when it comes to that issue.

In an interview, when asked about her health, Franklin had the following to say:

“I am not going to even deal with that [...] I don’t have to talk about my health with anybody other than my doctors. The problem has been resolved [...] I am not one to do a lot of talking about my personal health or business. Not too much, not too much [...] There are a lot of people who will talk about anything, as long as there is somebody listening. But I am not one of those people. That’s not Aretha.”

While those comments might upset some over-sensitive fans, Franklin has a point. This struggle is not only a difficult one but also a personal one and it is up to her to decide which details the public ought to be privy to. Franklin doesn’t even need to be giving interviews at this point, when it is far more important for her to get as much rest as possible, but she seems to understand that her fans want to hear from her and know that she is doing well, so she’s allowed reporters to speak to her. As she says, some people are willing to speak on any topic if it keeps their name in the news, but she’s smart enough to know that some things aren’t for the public to hear.

From what we can tell, it sounds as though she’s maintaining a positive attitude and throughout all of this and will continue to do so, and that’s always a good sign.
