Bad news for Black Keys fans who live down under: the bluesy and blistering rock duo has canceled the Australia and New Zealand legs of their most recent tour due to exhaustion (and apparently it’s the real-real kind of exhaustion, and not the in-quotes kind of “exhaustion” that rhymes with “smosmaine”).

According to Spinner, the band’s website announced the following:

“’The Black Keys are sorry to announce the cancellation of the New Zealand and Australian tour including all appearances at the Big Day Out touring festival as well as a portion of the European tour in March… Dan and Patrick wish to thank all of you who have shown such incredible support since the release of Brothers and have helped make the album a success.’

“Blaming an “arduous” promotional tour for last year’s ‘Brothers’ album, the duo — Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney — are said to be “drained” but thanked fans for their support.”

So there you go, Black Keys fans—let you mourning begin.  And don’t worry, you won’t be alone in your sadness: the band has killed six European dates in Germany, Switzerland and France, as well.

What do you think of the Black Keys’ canceled tour?
