The resurgence of Britney Spears rolls on. The pop star’s latest single, “Hold It Against Me,” has debuted at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles Chart.

Spears is only the second artist in Billboard’s 52-year history of the Hot 100 to have more than one single top the chart in its opening week.

The above information is direct from Billboard so it must be true.

The only other act with multiple number one debuts is Mariah Carey; she did it with “Fantasy” and “One Sweet Day” in 1995 and “Honey” in 1997.

Spears previously hit number one with “3″ in 2009. “Hold It Against Me” is Spears’ fourth No. 1 on the Hot 100.

She also hit the top of the charts way back in 1999 with her debut single “…Baby One More Time” and then with “Womanizer” in 2008.

Nielsen SoundScan reported that “Hold It Against Me” sold 411,000 downloads on the Digital Songs Chart, knocking the 325,000 downloads sold by Taylor Swift’s “Today Was a Fairytale” down a notch. Yeah!

Bruno Mars is featured twice in this week’s top ten: 2nd place and 10th place with “Grenade” and “Just The Way You Are.” Katy Perry’s “Firework” held down the third spot, followed by Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” and Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” at number five.

Enrique Iglesias, Kesha, Pink and The Black Eyed Peas finish off the top 10.
