Hippies and hipsters, rejoice! While Coachella may be sold out, there’s still the legendary Bonnaroo festival to look forward to, and according to Consequence of Sound, the official lineup will be announced next week, on February 15. This year will mark the tenth anniversary of the festival, and as such, rumors have been swirling around the internet regarding who may or may not show up to celebrate this monumental event.
Well, let’s take a look at some of these rumors…
- Nashville Scene reports that Robert Plant informally announced during a performance that he would be playing Bonnaroo with Band of Joy.
- The Nashville section of Examiner.com features an article which suggests that Talib Kweli confirmed his involvement (in the form of the group Black Star) via Twitter response. They also believe that Bruce Hornsby and Big Boi will be there.
- Live Music Blog speculates that a clue from the festival’s site may imply that the one and only David Bowie will show up.
- Consequence of Sound lists The Decemberists as a possibility.
It isn’t a lot to go on, that’s for sure, but some of these are more valid than others. Bowie’s involvement would be spectacular, but that rumor is based on nothing more than an interpretation of a clue provided by the website. The interpretation could be wrong, quite simply.
The Decemberists would make sense. They are beloved among the Bonnaroo crowd and have recently released a new album that they’ll be wanting to promote.
Robert Plant? Well, we simply trust him not to lie to us.
