It’s that time again. It’s time for us to pick our favorite music video of the week! A lot of great material was released over the past few days but we had to narrow it down to one. We based our decision on creativity, music, and most importantly why you won’t see it on MTV…but should!
And the pick of this week is…
Radiohead: “Lotus Flower”
This week’s pick was chosen because of the following…
- Creativity: 9/10
- Something you won’t see on MTV, but should: 8/10
- Song Quality: 9/10
- Produced and Directed by Garth Jennings
- Choreographed by Wayne McGregor
- Director of Photography- Nick Wood
- Editor- Leila Sarraf
Making the Cut:
Facebook newsfeeds and publish stories alike are all buzzing about the same thing this morning; Thom Yorke’s sweet moves choreographed? I’m not criticizing. I love this video, but to quote a friend, “I may not be on par with Thom Yorke as far as overall talent goes, but at least I know I can dance just as good as him.” (Thanks, Tim)
According to the website this moring, “It’s Friday… It’s almost the weekend…It’s a full moon….You can download ‘The King of Limbs’ now if you so wish.” That’s right, their long awaited album is being released a day early and the video time stamps a very exciting start to this three day weekend.
Said & Done:
Being unfamiliar with the song and having it start with Yorke’s body convulsing in dance with his face covered in shadow, you aren’t expecting the powerful bright light that exposing his face, almost catching you off guard. The familiar face of a manic musician who is still capable of delivering beauty against a color stripped frame, giving Radiohead fans yet another iconic moment to relish in.
