Britney Spears Shows Off Dolce & Gabbana Fashions in New Album Artwork
By Joseph Oliveto
Well, no one ever accused Britney Spears of not selling out. She’s a generic pop star, plain and simple, and since the beginning of her career she’s been the kind of celebrity whose image goes hand in hand with blatant consumerism. She sings the kind of songs that you hear on infinite repeat at the mall and, when she’s in shape, she shows up in countless magazines wearing whatever fashion she can sell.
So it comes as no surprise when MTV reports that promo pics for her latest album, Femme Fatale, depict the star sporting some Dolce & Gabanna looks.
Posed in the most predictable “sexy” manner possible, Spears shows off some summer clothes in a series of pics, probably so the young girls who buy her album beg their parents to buy these outfits for them.
We’d call it shameless, but to be honest, it’s almost imposible to divorce popular music from the world of fashion. Sure, pop singers like Britney Spears and Katy Perry may serve as walking billboards for revealing dresses, but even more respectable artists like Bruce Springsteen have their own rock ‘n roll uniforms that fans are bound to imitate.
It’s unavoidable. Even if the band is The Pixies, the choice to go out on stage in a baggy t-shirt seems like some sort of statement.
So, ok, Britney Spears isn’t the only one who does this kind of thing. But we’ve already expressed the fact that we’re disappointed with her refusal to chart some new musical territory with her latest work, and if these pictures are any indication, she’s still the same old pop star she used to be.
That’s not a good thing.
Are we being too harsh? Is it part of her job to be a model?

Rolling Stone gave it 4 out of 5. Shut up. This article is all over the place.. don't even understand what you're attempting to get at. Whatever point you were trying to arrive at, let's just say, you didn't.
