Katy Perry’s Single ‘E.T.’ Takes the Top Spot on Billboard’s Hot 100

Katy Perry must be enjoying her life right now. Last October, she married boyfriend Russell Brand, and it looks as though the state of matrimony has done little to slow down her already successful career. According to Billboard, “E.T.” the fourth single from her album Teenage Dream, recently took the coveted number one spot on their Hot 100 list.

It’s worth mentioning that the song is a caollaboration with Kanye West. Say what you like about him, but that man has the Midas touch.

In response to the news, Perry has said, “I am so thrilled that ‘E.T.’ has landed at No. 1. I want to thank all the fans that contributed to this amazing feat and radio, which has been an essential part of my continued existence. I truly appreciate all the support of my creative twists and turns.”

This is the fourth song from the album to reach this spot; Teenage Dream is the first album in six years to earn this achievement.

While we wouldn’t want to rob Perry of whatever attention she may deserve for her work as a pop star, earlier this year we reported that she will no longer be working with her frequent collaborator Dr. Luke. He may have played a major role in her success, and we wonder if she can keep producing hits with him out of the picture.

Well, we’ll just have to wait and see, but in the meantime, Perry’s status as one of the hottest pop stars remains unchallenged. Honestly, if this type of music has to persist–and odds are it will–we’ll take her new tunes over Britney Spears’s comeback any day of the week.
