The Water: BeatCrave Fav
By Candace ButlerThe Water, a duo consisting of life-long friends from Baltimore who have been playing together since grade school, are aptly named. Their full-length instrumental tracks feature trickling falsettos that swell into deep, booming depths of percussion. Songs like “Vikings Again” send forth a rushing sense of power, the ambient vibrations of various effects pedals coursing through the listener. Amidst the grounded, fluidity of their tracks come celestial counterparts, complementing the calm flow of “Mercury Switch” and “Space Caesar” with subtle background noises several decibles-removed but reminiscent of children’s shouts or the low rumble of engines running in the distance. Their live shows are loud and emotional–indeed, we can only imagine the intensity of their upcoming live collaboration with modern dance company The Collective.
