Outside Lands Music Festival 2011: IntroductionBy Carl Pocket
The Outside Lands Music festival is already upon us (a little bit earlier than last year) and we are enjoying the beautiful sunny overcast San Francisco climate for a few days to catch some amazing music, fill our stomachs with some delicious grub, and possibly partake in a game of (free) air hockey at the Barcade. Oh yeah, this year’s installment of Golden Gate Park’s finest, has super sized itself back to a 3 day affair. And 3 days still might not give the proper time to partake in everything to do at Golden Gate Park.
If the headliners of Phish, Muse and Arcade Fire aren’t your idea of a good time (we think it is) there is plenty of other activities to join in. You can always make your way over to “Wine Lands” and sip on some vino from Bay Area vineyards, watch some sports and compete against other in classic video games (for prizes) at the Barcade, or even catch some of the acts in an intimate acoustic setting over at the Toyota “Free YR Radio” tent. We even hear there might be a freak show circus over in “Choco Lands” (where all the sweets to delight your tummy can be found”).
There is a plethora of fun going on at Outside Lands and we will be doing our darndest to fill you in on what you may be missing here in Nor Cal. Make sure to check back throughout the weekend and on Monday for full reviews of what caught our eyes at OSL and if you made the trek to SF let us know who you are checking out this weekend!
