Beijing: BeatCrave Fav
By Candace ButlerFour rockers from New Haven, Connecticut working under the phonically-foreign pseudonym Beijing really know how to rock. They’re currently working on two full-length albums to be recorded early 2012–that’s right; not one, but two albums. That’s some serious inspiration and/or work ethic! But for now, we’ll all just have to be satisfied with their debut album, It’s Not So Simple…and satisfied we are. ”Glitch” introduces us immediately to a 90s grunge that runs throughout the entire album, ending in “New Beginning,” a song that blends that same hardcore noise with the lighter, more fluid sound. The instrumental section can hold its own; indeed, there’s a certain beauty to the angsty fast pace and tightness of the band alone. But the lyrics, kicked out by skidding vocals across their noise rock base are truly the icing on the cake. Check out Beijing in our BeatCrave Fav series below! It’s that simple (ha).
