The world’s population is expected to hit 7 billion this weekend, so you can rest assured there will be an event for you this Halloween. That’s right–leave the trick-or-treating to that adamant bunch who does it every year, put on your freaky/sexy/beautiful/creepy costume and dance the night away. We found the hottest spots so you don’t have to waste valuable time you could be putting on your face makeup (we knew you’d choose David Bowie or one of the other musicians on our list). Now, put down that iPod and get ready to hit the town…

Midnight Massacre

Huntington Beach is kicking off the weekend with a dance-worthy Halloween Party tonight. Promoted as a Costume Ball and Adult Playground, there’s actually going to be some cool DJs spinning at the Hotel Huntington Beach with a variety of genres played simultaneously in separate dancefloors: AK1200, Dangerhouse, and Mikey Made are in charge of the Dubstep, House, and Drum&Bass beats while DJ Kamoflage, DJ Special Efx, DJ Thrifty Lips, DJ Keef Koded, DJ Universe will supply the Hip Hop, Mash-ups, and Top 40.

  • Hotel Hauntington Beach, Huntington Beach, CA
  • Friday, October 28
  • 18 and over
  • DJ Kamoflage, DJ Special Efx, DJ Thrifty Lips, DJ Keef Koded, DJ Universe

Monster Massive

The 14th Annual Monster Massive is a Saturday night party dedicated to mixing ghoulishness with electronica.  For the first time ever, they’re introducing a haunted house and all other sorts of foolishness (mirror mazes, we hear). But who cares about that? It’s the rave environment that’s most enticing–they claim to have the biggest names in dance music, including Moby and Nero.

Rolling Stone Halloween 2011

The “Rock Star Halloween 2011″ at Rolling Stone Nightclub in Hollywood is quite a mouthful, but we prefer to just say “Sex Pistols,” because that’s the band whose playing there, besides the DJ’d . That seems to be the only band playing there, though, despite a rumored Nirvana set (whether it’s dj’d or live, we cannot discern). So if you like punk rock and costume contests, this is your place.

  • Hollywood, CA
  • Saturday, October 29
  • 21 and over
  • Sex Pistols, “Top Hollywood DJs”

Halloween Night at The Echo

If you’re looking for a more indie-friendly set, or just a solid Monday adventure to complete your Halloween weekend, then The Echo is the place for you.  Buddyhead Presents Halloween Night should be a good show because of the awesome band list. No word on whether there will be costumes, but maybe it needn’t be said for live concerts on Halloween Day.

  • 1822 Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles, CA
  • Monday, October 31
  • 18 and over
  • Icarus Line, Stab City, The Sister Ruby Band, The Wunderstation

House of Blues Sunset Strip

Okay, so they’re not throwing a particular “Halloween Party,” but we included them because they’re featuring several awesome bands this weekend, and what better band to see on Halloween than Steel Panther? Those guys dress like 80s Hair Bands every day. You can also catch The Damned with Manic Hispanic and Cute Lepers on Sunday, October 30th as well as Steel Panther on Halloween night. Plus, at only $15 admission, it’s probably the most affordable on our list.
