You may have heard that Justin Bieber unleashed his Christmas spirit upon the world today in the form of an album–wait, you didn’t hear that? You mean you’re not going to a real store to buy the compact disc version in hopes of winning a wonka-esque ticket found in one of the cases to see your hair-flipping idol? Well, then, you’re probably not one of the undoubted millions of “beliebers” out there who propelled his YouTube views past Monther Monster‘s ridiculously-high amount to reach the 2 billion mark before her.

MTV reports that he hit the mark yesterday, with lots of support from his fans (and probably due to his recent album release of Christmas tunes):

the first artist to rack up 2 billion YouTube views, according to social-media stats service Famecount.com.

The 17-year old secured duets with Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, and Usher, and The Band Perry for Under the Mistletoe, possibly drawing in views from fans of those artists as well.  Yahoo! was especially interested in the findings of TheWrap.com, who noted the singer’s voice has lost some of its falsetto range and is now “relative baritone,” which may also be drawing him more attention.

Of course, Bieber and YouTube have always been on good terms. MTV is quick to remind us that it is where he made his debut, successfully garnering views and attention before finding international fame:

Bieber, of course, began his career as a YouTube sensation, after videos of the then-12-year-old singer tallied millions of views and caught the attention of manager Scooter Braun and Usher.

So…um…we’re going to go watch some Gaga videos on YouTube now, and try our best to ignore that little Bieber face that pops up in every ad.

How do you feel about the fact that Bieber’s presence is now unignorable?
