Oh, Justin Bieber, you’re the holiday gift that keeps on giving—continually giving us bitter, cranky folk continued reasons to hate. Why, just in time for the holiday season, you dropped a new disc of holiday tunes, called Under the Mistletoe! And, as if that wasn’t a good enough reason to hate you, you wisely made sure it sold a ton of units/ downloads, making it the first Christmas album by a male artist to ever hit #1 on the Billboard album charts. You little devil, you.
That’s right. Usually it takes Mariah Carey shattering glass with her banshee howl while yowling that “all I need this Christmas is yooooooooooouuuuuuuuu!” for a Christmas album to sell enough to hit the number one spot, but, thankfully for Bieber, this nation is full of enough preteen and tween girls and house moms with disposable incomes to ensure that Under the Mistletoe sold like crazy.
And if that wasn’t enough to annoy the living hell out of you, Under the Mistletoe is the Biebs’ third straight number one album, making him the first artist (and I use the term ‘artist’ very loosely here) of either gender to have three number one albums before he’s 18. There you go—that should create enough bitterness and bile to last you through the holiday season.
What do you think of Bieber’s Christmas album?

One other thing: Neither of Mariah Carey's two Christmas albums have hit #1 on the Billboard 200 album sales chart. Her first one, "Merry Christmas" from 1994, peaked at #3 in December 1994 (though it has been a consistent seller in the last 17 years, and is now certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA for sales of five million copies). Her second one, last year's "Merry Christmas II You" debuted and peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart, and is certified Gold for sales of at least 500,000 copies.
Actually, you should make a slight correction to your blog. Bieber's horrid new album is the first Christmas album by a male artist to DEBUT at #1 on the Billboard 200 album sales chart. There've been other male artists who've hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in the past with Christmas albums (Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby, Mitch Miller, Kenny G and Josh Groban...just to name a few), though none of them debuted at #1.
I'm not a fan of Bieber, but what i've heard of the album from friends playing it, certainly hasn't been horrible!!
