Neil Young is reuniting with longtime backing band Crazy Horse for another album. According to Young’s fansite Thrasher’s Wheat, the singer announced the news over the weekend at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

But, to Young, making a record doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll be releasing it. In 2000, Young and Crazy Horse recorded an LP called Toast that never made it unto shelves. Technically, the last time the Young and (all of) Crazy Horse worked together on a record was in 1996 for Broken Arrow.

Young and Crazy Horse have made a number of great albums together including Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Zume and Ragged Glory.

According to the fansite, Young said that he’s already recorded one album with Crazy Horse, and that another is in the works. Perhaps the made record he’s referring to is indeed Toast, and it’ll finally see the light of day.

Now the big question… will there be a tour? Young and Crazy Horse haven’t played a show together since 2004, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they made that a possibility.

Perhaps Young is sick and tired of listening to today’s music, and that’s triggering him to record another record with his longtime beloved band. He recently told MTV News that “We’re in the 21st century and we have the worst sound that we’ve ever had.” He did express his fondness for Mumford and Sons and My Morning Jacket though.

Are you excited to hear another Young and Crazy Horse record?
