One thing is meant to happen when a musical legend dies, we saw it with Michael Jackson, and now we’re seeing it with the late Whitney Houston – record sales go up, way up. When the world found out about Houston’s death, many rushed over to iTunes to grab some of her music. What they weren’t expecting however, was the price increase on her record. Needless to say, fans were outraged.

Hours after the singer passed away, U.K. fans rushed to iTunes to buy Houston’s “Ultimate Collection” and “Greatest Hits” records, only to find out that the price on both had increased. iTunes knows that when a legend like Miss Houston dies, sales go up, so their system automatically adjust the price. Thankfully, Sony has fixed the mistake.

The BBC reported the Sony, Houston’s label, issued a statement yesterday where they apologized for the inconvenience and added that they would correct the price.

“Whitney Houston product was mistakenly mispriced on the U.K. iTunes store on Sunday. When discovered, the mistake was immediately corrected. We apologize for any offense caused.”

Still, Sony won’t be suffering from this slight change. In the U.S., Houston’s “Greatest Hits” album re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 6 this week with over 64,000 copies sold.
