Whitney Houston’s Funeral Will Be Aired Live On The Internet
By Travis Woods
Unless you’ve been living under a pretty heavy rock this week, you’ve heard that former pop superstar Whitney Houston died last Saturday, apparently from complications related to mixing prescription medication with alcohol. And in the subsequent days, we’ve seen Grammy tributes as well as shameless price hikes of her music catalog. And now fans will be able to see something else—on Saturday, Houston’s private funeral in Newark, New Jersey will be broadcast on the internet, which seems both a little much and a tad creepy.
The “private” funeral will be held this Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church, where Houston once sang as a child. She will be eulogized by Marvin Winans, a Grammy Award winning gospel singer and “longtime family friend.” After the ceremony, Houston will be buried in Fair View Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey. The Associated Press will be allowed to film Saturday’s funeral in Newark, and will stream the service on http://livestream.com/aplive.
Houston died in Beverly Hills last Saturday at the age of 48. She was found submerged in a bathtub by a staff member, just hours before she was set to attend a pre-Grammy party.
What do you think about the streaming of Houston’s funeral?
