Along with a lot of other people (mostly all the sane people on planet Earth), comic actor Seth Rogen apparently does not care much for rapper Chris Brown and his famous, girlfriend-assaulting, green-room destroying, tantrum-throwing temper. Nor does he seem to look highly upon the Grammys for continuing to celebrate and award Brown, despite his odious behavior. And Rogen let them both have it through a series of raunchy jokes while hosting the Independent Spirit Awards last weekend.
Rogen first brought up the fact that director Brett Ratner was famously pulled from the producing this year’s Oscar telecast for homophobic remarks made last year (“You say a few hateful things, they don’t let you within a few hundred yards of the Oscars”), and then pointed out that the Grammys have no such compunction about tacitly approving of those with such hateful or awful behavior (“You can literally beat the s*** out of a nominee and they’ll ask you to perform twice at the Grammys”).
It was a clever, funny barb directed at the Grammys, who had Brown perform twice after, yes, he “beat the s***” out of Grammy nominee Rihanna. While this is a bit of news that will likely be drowned out in the post-Oscar cacophony, we thought it deserved a mention.
What do you think of Rogen’s comments?
