The Jacksons are doing more than a reunion tour, they’re also setting out to record new music. According to Billboard, the Jacksons plan to return to the studio and work on their first studio album since 1989′s 2300 Jackson Street. Find out the details below.

Jackie Jackson, the eldest brother, told Billboard:

“That’s what we gotta do — right after the tour, we’re gonna go back into the studio and start recording some new music. I can’t wait.”

He also added that their sound would be a little bit of today, but still their original sound. They want to keep it simple, he said, but not shy away from their sound.

Rehearsals for the tour kick off on May 1, and they promise to have a full band and some cool choreography. The tour officially starts on June 18th in Louisville.

The absence of Michael Jackson will surely be missed and noticed, but it’ll also be a way to honor his memory because they will be playing classic hits, according to Jackson.

Jackson also added that he wishes his brother was there to tour with them, but that the tributes will ensure that his spirit will be in the house when they are on stage. You never know, if Dr. Dre brought 2Pac back from the dead as a hologram, then the Jackson 5 can bring back Michael, don’t you think?

What do you think? Are you looking forward to a new record?

If the hologram is done right and with respect to MJ's memory, then why not? If this actually happens, they better tour Australia, unlike other so-called "world tours" that exclude Australia.
