Justin Timberlake is set to return to his musical ways, but not in the way you may think. No, he won’t be releasing a new record any time soon, but will be scoring the soundtrack to a new film titled The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.

According to Rolling Stone, Timberlake will serve as music supervisor and write the film’s soundtrack. It’s been a lengthy five years since Timberlake’s last musical endeavor. He’s mainly been keeping busy with films like The Social Network and his involvement with MySpace.

So what is is about this very long titled movie that attracted Timberlake in the first place? Well, it might have a little something to do with his fiancee, actress Jessica Biel, who’s set to star in the film.

Regardless of what his reason is, it’ll be interesting to see Timberlake return to music. Maybe this will provoke a whole record out of him. Also, this will be the first time that the singer attempts to compose a score. Will he have a natural gift for it? Maybe this will be his ticket to the Oscars. There are a lot of possibilities.

What do you think? Will Timberlake make a good composer?
