Here’s one for the books (literally—assuming the book in question is the Guinness Book of World Records): Dave Grohl’s newest set of drumsticks have broken the record and become the world’s largest drumsticks. Yes, you read that correctly—there is an actual record for the world’s largest drumsticks; and Dave Grohl’s have earned that top honor.
Exactly how big are these gargantuan drumsticks? Drumroll…. 900 pounds. Yes, that’s right—the drumsticks are 900 pounds.
How did such a thing come to be? Dave Grohl’s hometown of Warren, Ohio just unveiled a set of gargantuan 900 pound drumsticks in honor of its most famous hometown boy. And yes, a 900 pound set of drumsticks is big enough to gain entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.
Grohl later sent a Tweet thank you to his hometown, thanking them for the bizarre gift. “To the wonderful city of Warren,” he Tweeted, “from the bottom of my heart I’d like to thank you all so much…for the childhood memories. For my family. For my very own alley. For the world’s largest drumsticks. And for all of your support.” He continued with, “but most of all for being such a great community. One that makes me proud to say…I am from Warren, Ohio!”
The drumsticks are currently being shown at the Warren Amphitheater, and will be on display through September, when they will be relocated to David Grohl Alley in Warren.
Dave Grohl was born in Warren, Ohio in 1969, though he moved to the suburbs of Washington, D.C. in his early childhood.
