Shakira and Usher Replace Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green On ‘The Voice’
By Laura AguirreThe Voice is trading one Latin blonde pop star for another Latin blonde pop star; and an R&B singer for another slimmer, slightly more attractive R&B singer. Colombian booty-shaker Shakira and Justin Bieber-worshipper Usher are replacing Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green because you know, they have more important things to do in life.
Aguilera is releasing a new album in November and going on tour to support it, and Green is busy with that recently announced sitcom about his life. So you can understand why they can’t just sit around on the show.
So, Shakira and Usher are being brought in to fill the empty chairs. They’ll make their debut in the spring of 2013.
NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said that doing back-to-back cycles requires a lot from the judges, so they’re happy to accommodate any of the prior commitments made by the talent.
Compared to The X-Factor and American Idol, The Voice producers seem to have a better handle on who’ll be on the judging panel. The show allows the artists to do their own thing, like go on tour, and if they want to come back, they can.
What do you think? Do you care who judges The Voice?
