Over the weekend Steve Buscemi and Vampire Weekend marched in the NYC Easter Parade together. They even wore matching bunny ears and stuff. And it turns out that there was a purpose to this spectacle. It has been announced that the actor will direct a live stream of the band in concert, which will in turn debut a new season of American Express Unstaged.
The stream will launch the fourth season of the online series that pairs notable directors with popular music acts. Vampire Weekend’s concert will take place at the Roseland Ballroom on April 28; it will stream live on VEVO and YouTube. This show will also mark the band’s first proper NYC concert in two and a half years.
The band’s lead singer Ezra Koenig called Buscemi “a wonderful actor, a NYC legend and a great director.” Buscemi has previously directed four feature films, including 1996′s Trees Lounge, Animal Factory, and Lonesome Jim. He has also directed TV episodes of shows like The Sopranos, 30 Rock and Nurse Jackie.
Vampire Weekend will release their third album, Modern Vampires of the City on May 14.
