Jack White is planning on doing something interesting for his contribution to this year’s Record Store Day—breaking the Guinness World Record for the “world’s fastest released record…in the history of mankind,” with the vinyl single for “Lazaretto,” a track off of his upcoming solo effort, also titled Lazaretto.
How fast is White planning on being? At his Third Man Records store in Nashville, White will take the stage in the Blue Room at 10 AM on Record Store Day (April 19th) to record the song right on to acetate. According to Rolling Stone, the acetate recording will then immediately be taken to United Record Pressing, where it will be pressed onto 45s right away. The 45’s sleeves will be made up of photos taken during that morning’s live performance. The records will then be taken back to Third Man Records, where they will be sold.
The previous Guinness World Record for Fastest Album release is held by Vollgas, a polka trio whose album Live was released one day after it was recorded in Switzerland.
