Well, this is odd—one of the biggest alt-rock bands of the 1990s, The Smashing Pumpkins, is getting the drummer from one of the biggest hair-metal bands of the 1980s, Mötley Crüe. That’s right—Tommy Lee is now a Smashing Pumpkin.
According to The Smashing Pumpkins’ website (via The AV Club), Lee will be performing on the Pumpkins’ upcoming album, Monument To An Elegy, where he will bring forth his unique brand of “shockla-locka-boom.”
It is currently unknown as to whether or not Lee will be a touring member of the band, though the fact that Crüe is retiring could free up the drummer’s itinerary somewhat.
