This week, the Internet went wild when TMZ posted a surveillance video of Solange Knowles attacking one of the most powerful celebrities/rappers in the world, her brother-in-law Jay-Z. The rapper, Beyonce and Solange have since issued a statement. Check it out below. Also, Arcade Fire released the complete music video for “We Exist.” All that and more below.
- Jay Z, Beyonce And Solange Issue Statement: Jay Z, Beyonce and Solange have broken their silence after the world saw the younger Knowles punch and kick the Brooklyn rapper in an elevator at the Standard Hotel. The internet went crazy with speculation in the days the followed the release of the surveillance tape, originally posted by TMZ. But the statement offers no reason as to why they had the argument in the first place, and that’s alright because it was never intended for anyone to see them fight in an elevator. Here’s the statement the family issued to the Associated Press:
“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same…As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred…They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.
- Arcade Fire Release “We Exist”: Arcade Fire released a the complete music video to their next single titled “We Exist.” The video shows Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) in drag at Coachella in April. The song tells the story of a young man coming out to his father over a “Billie Jean”–inspired bass groove. Check it out:
- Lykke Li Releases New Song: Lykke Li will appear on The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack, and she’s released her contribution. The song, titled “No One Ever Loved Me” is another emotional ballad played along the shadow of the piano. The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack is due out May 19th.
