SXSW continued for day 2 as I woke up on Thursday ready to see some more great music. Although Austin isn’t that huge, SXSW, itself, is quite large as there can be shows happening right in the middle of 6th street, beyond the freeway or a bus ride away. Thursday morning was the day I took the initiative to take a bus and see a show further away, and it turned out that it was very well worth it.

However, as the event drew closer, we all grew excited, anxious, and even a little nervous.

SXSW’s music festival officially started yesterday and the streets of Austin definitely showed it. Not only was it the official kick off to the week’s event, but it was also St. Patrick’s Day. Industry folk, bands and their instruments, along with people dressed in green – who were ready to have a good time – piled out onto 5th, 6th, and 7th Street in Downtown Austin to catch some great live acts.

MGMT Apologizes For New Song Flash Delirium MGMT Apologizes For New Song Flash Delirium

Although most of you said you enjoyed the new MGMT track, there is still buzz going around about how it doesn’t sound like the MGMT arrangements we’re used to. As we previously mentioned, “Flash Delirium” combines a whole of of choppy material all under five minutes instead of the psychedelic falsetto melodies we like so much from the Brooklyn duo.

Well, it turns out that MGMT has read all our tweets and blog posts and basically apologized for the new song. Why are they apologizing for material they’ve proudly released under their name? According to Spinner, MGMT initially thought the song was hilariously ridiculous as well and assures us that it is not a single from their upcoming album, Congratulations.

Ray Charles Musical Set For Broadway In November Ray Charles Musical Set For Broadway In November

If ABBA and the Spice Girls can get their own Broadway musical, that’s more than enough reason for a Ray Charles musical. As a staple and innovator for Soul music, Ray Charles has grabbed our hearts through his various hit songs such as “Georgia On My Mind” and “Hit The Road Jack” but this theatrical piece on the musician’s life is asking us to unchain his heart.

Unchain My Heart, the musical celebrating Ray Charles’ life, is coming to Broadway this November and according to the Associated Press, preview performances start as early as October 8.

Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins Star In Vampire Flick Together

Alice Cooper Iggy Pop Henry Rollins Star In Vampire Flick Together Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins Star In Vampire Flick Together

If you’re going to the film portion of SXSW this year, you may just get to see the new vampire flick that stars rock legends Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins (and Moby). The name of the film is blatantly Suck, as it takes on the the attitude of heavy rock and roll and then the world of vampires which so many teens and have fallen in love with thanks to films and TV shows such as Twilight and True Blood. Other actors include Malcolm McDowell and Dave Foley (of Kids in the Hall) among other unlikely cast members.

This will be the sophomore release for director Rob Stefaniuk and although we’re wondering how in the world he managed to grab such a major cast, we’re a bit more curious about how these musicians will do with comedic timing on their part.
