The Astoria, one of most noteworthy venues in London, has announced plans to close its doors. The Astoria is being forced to close for good January 15th in order to make way for London’s Crossrail railway project. Another popular London music club, Metro, is also set to close in order to make way for the rail.
The final show at the venue will be Manumission Come To London, a festival or sorts featuring a variety of rock and dance acts. After the performance at the Astoria the show is expected to go on a world tour to a variety of other clubs.

Dave Matthews Band has announced their first studio album in four years, as well as their first tour since the death of saxophonist LeRoi Moore three months ago. The group will be touring starting in April with a pretty unusual array of rotating opening acts.
The beginning of the tour will feature The Roots (taking leave from their standing role on Jimmy Fallon) followed by three dates with Old Crow Medicine Show, eight with The Avett Brothers, and two final dates with Jason Mraz at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Bill Kreutzmann, Grateful Dead drummer for the band’s entire thirty year career, will be throwing a New Years concert in his home town in Hawaii. If you can afford the ticket or live in the area, it’s definitely a show not to be missed for all you Dead-Heads. Kreutzmann is joined on stage in Maui by Austin bluesman Papa Mali, James “Hutch” Hutchinson (bass guitar/Bonnie Raitt Band), and Matt Hubbard (piano/Willie Nelson Band) for two nights of music on December 29th and 31st.
