If you recall the film, the scene that West recreated involves Bale’s character, Patrick Bateman, as raves about Huey Lewis and the News before gruesomely killing Jared Leto‘s Paul Allen with an axe. Kanye cast Scott Disick (from Keeping Up With The Kardashians and a few other reality shows) to play Bale’s role. In the short film, Disick raves about West’s new album, calling it his best work yet. For what it’s worth, Disick (who is a reality TV personality and not a real actor) does a decent job imitating Bale.

Also, just in case you haven’t purchased Yeezus yet, you can sample every single song in the album over at SoundCloud. The critics are raving about the record. Rolling Stone‘s Jon Dolan called it:

“An extravagantly abrasive album full of grinding electro, pummeling minimalist hip-hop, drone-y wooz and industrial gear-grind… Every mad genius has to make a record like this at least once in his career – at its nastiest, his makes Kid A or In Utero or Trans all look like Bruno Mars.”

Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that most of things West does (artistically and not) demand attention.

Helping to cement fan suspicion that Drake’s upcoming (and currently without a released date) third album, Nothing Was The Same, will be released late in the summer, Drake has announced a large, 41-city North American tour for this autumn.

• Yeezus Leaks Online: Arguably the most highly anticipated album of the year so far,Yeezus has finally leaked online, just days before its official release. (It’s out on Tuesday.) An illegal leak of West’s entire sixth studio album hit the web around noon on Friday. However, West doesn’t seem to be all that concerned about sales numbers for the album. During his speech at the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York last week, he said “Honestly at this point, I could give a … about selling a million records as long as I put out an album for the summer that y’all can rock to for all … summer.” Here’s the track list:

Another day, another beloved band is reuniting.  This time, it’s the beloved rock ‘n punk band The Replacements.   Something of a drunken 1980s version of The Faces, The Replacements famously played/imploded at their final show in Chicago in 1991.  As The AV Club notes, while the band never officially announced a break-up, their hiatus of two decades more or less cemented the fact the band would not play together again.  Until this summer, that is.

That’s right, The Replacements are getting back together.  Well, sort of.   Frontman, singer, and guitarist Paul Westerberg will certainly be coming back, as will bassist Tommy Stinson (who has been gigging with Guns N Roses).  However, original drummer Chris Mars left the band in 1990 and isn’t expected to return, nor is guitarist Slim Dunlap, who suffered a stroke in 2012.  So, technically, it’ll be Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson, and two other guys, and they’ll call themselves The Replacements.

So, what prompted the reunion?  Westerberg and Stinson recently came together to record a benefit EP for Dunlap, which grew into the all-out reunion that is now happening.  The band will be playing the Riot Fest in Toronto in August, as well as the Chicago and Denver dates in September.  The specific dates of their performances, as well as upcoming tour dates (if any) have not been released.

2 Chainz‘s week has been a series of unfortunate events. Earlier this week it was reported that the Atlanta MC was robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco. Now, news sources say that the rapper was arrested at LAX on Tuesday (June 11) for possession of marijuana after he was caught with the drug in terminal 5.

The LAX Airport Police public information officer Sergeant Belinda Nettles confirmed that Chainz (born Tauheed Epps) was also in possession of a bottle of promethazine and codeine at the time of his arrest. The rapper was booked on a felony narcotics possession charge, according to TMZ.

This isn’t the first time the rapper has been arrested — he was previously arrested in Maryland on a possession charge back in February. The incident received quite a lot of publicity due to the fact that the police officers asked Chainz to pose in a photo with them. Thankfully for the MC, the charges against him were dropped due to lack of evidence. But he might not be as lucky this time around.

As mentioned above, Chainz also got into a bit of trouble earlier this week. On Monday, a San Francisco Police Department official confirmed that the rapper was a victim in a robbery case, where he was attacked at gunpoint.

Kanye West has confirmed that the robotic-duo of the moment, Daft Punk, will appear on his highly-anticipated album Yeezus, which drops next week. (Can you feel the excitement?) The rapper also revealed that Chief Keef and Bon Iver‘s Justin Vernon are expected to appear on the same song titled “Can’t Handle My Liquor.”

All of this sort-of new information got out from a Yeezus listening session Monday night at New York’s Milk Studios. During the session, West confirmed that Daft Punk worked on three or so songs. He also shared a track that combines TNGHT’s “R U Ready” with Billie Holiday’s “Strange Fruit.”

Rick Rubin was also revealed as an executive producer on the album. West said:

“It was good for me to go to the god, Rick Rubin, and play him my shit, ask him questions, and allow him to take this project to an entirely new level, and he made a lot of great decisions at the end and pulled it to a whole new level.”

During the event, West also spoke about the tone of the album saying that his team “just wanted to make the best product possible.”

“This is just the beginning of an entire new mentality about how to make music.”

The rapper also shared a handful of new tracks during his 21-song Governors Ball set on Sunday night (June 9). He performed a new track titled “Black Skinhead,” which you can check out below. Yeezus is out June 18.

2013 is shaping up to be a great year for Queens of the Stone Age fans—not only is their new album, …Like Clockwork, their best album since 2002’s Songs for the Deaf, but the band has now announced an extensive fall tour in support of the LP.  Will they be coming to your town?

• Brian Wilson Announces New Solo Album: Brian Wilson announced that he’s working on his 11th solo record, and is set to embark on a short tour this summer with fellow former Beach Boys Al Jardine and David Marks, who are also lending a hand on the album. Source: RollingStone

• Nine Inch Nails Guitarist Quits: An another on bites the dust… Nine Inch Nails guitarist Adrian Belew announced that he was leaving the band. This means that he won’t be joining them on their worldwide summer tour which kicks off this July. The rocker posted on Facebook that he’s leaving the NIN to focus on his own project FLUX, and also stating that it just ‘didn’t work’. No word on who will be replacing him yet.

• Thom Yorke And Nigel Godrich Take Over American Radio: Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich gave America a treat this morning when they shared “Honey Pot” for the very first time in a DJ set that was broadcast on KCRW. The two are currently promoting Atoms For Peace‘s first full-length album AMOK. During their visit, the pair talked about how DJing affects the way they view music, and other things. Since Trent Reznor’s “retirement” of Nine Inch Nails only lasted a mere four years, it comes as no surprise that the head Nail announced today that he was adding a slew of tour dates to Nine Inch Nails’ preexisting summer festival dates, and then announced a brand new album, and then announced a new single.

First off, the new album—it’s called Hesitation Marks, and is set for a September 3 release date via Columbia Records.  The band will be launching a lengthy tour, dubbed Tension 2013, in support of the album (full list of dates below).  Progressive hotshots Godspeed You! You Black Emperor and Explosions in the Sky will be the tour openers.

As for the new single, “Came Back Haunted,” it merges the beep-blipped, dance-y technophilia of Reznor’s Pretty Hate Machine era with some of the more experimental noise of Year Zero.

Despite what Noel Gallagher might say about never, ever reuniting Oasis (not even ‘if all the starving children in the world depended on it’, his brother Liam feels differently. The Beady Eye singer revealed that he was interested in reforming the band next year, just in time for 20th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe.

Even though the Gallagher brothers aren’t on speaking terms, Liam mentioned that there’s some “unfinished business” with Oasis and that he would like to reunite the band. The singer to NME:

“There’s unfinished business there. People ask would I get Oasis back together. I’d do it for now, but if someone’s going to drop a load of fucking money, I’d do it for that too. I don’t think we’d ever make another record. I doubt we’ll ever get back together.”

Liam also mentioned that it would be great to get the band back together in time for the 20th anniversary of Definitely Maybe.

“If we do, it’d be nice to do that f***ing thing that’s coming up (the 20th anniversary) I’d be up for that. But I’d still go back to Beady Eye and Noel would go back to his thing. We could bury the hatchet for a quick lap of honour.”

Aw, if only Noel felt that way. Noel mentioned to NME in September of last year that he wasn’t too keen on reuniting since ‘nobody ever gave a shit about the fans in that band.’ But who knows, maybe Liam can get him to ‘bury the hatchet’ just this once.

Detroit’s Masonic Temple owes a debt of gratitude to musician Jack White, since, thanks to him, the building escaped foreclosure. Word from Detroit news station WXYZ is that White was the mystery donor who paid off the temple’s outstanding tax bill of $142,000 thus keeping it from closing its doors to the public. No too shabby eh?

White was born and raised in Detroit and according to Pitchfork had “strong connections to the Masonic Temple.” His mother was an usher there when he was young, and the Temple has hosted him many. In a statement, Detroit Masonic Temple Association President Roger Sobran said that:

“Jack’s donation could not have come at a better time and we are eternally grateful to him for it. Jack’s magnanimous generosity and unflinching loyalty to this historic building and his Detroit roots is appreciated beyond words.”

To show their gratitude, the temple’s Cathedral Theater will be renamed the Jack White Theater.  The building, which is located in downtown Detroit, is home to several masonic organizations. The 14-story Gothic structure takes up an entire block and has more than 1,000 rooms. Bands like The Who and the Rolling Stones have played there.

Last year, White released a solo album titled Blunderbuss, which topped the Billboard charts; he also performed at the Grammy Awards in February.

Auteur David Lynch seems to be spending most of his time to making music instead of making films, which is alright with us (as long as he’s making something, right?). In the last few years he’s released a collaborative effort with Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse titled Dark Night of the Soul, and his debut solo album, Crazy Clown Time. Now, Lynch has announced that he will release his second solo album, and gave a peek at one of his songs, which includes Swedish songstress Lykke Li.

Titled The Big Dream, Lynch’s sophomore solo album will hit stands on July 15 through Sacred Bones Records in the U.S. and Sunday Best Recordings in the U.K. The record features a cover of Bob Dylan‘s “The Ballad Of Hollis Brown” and also includes a collaboration with Lykke Li called “I’m Waiting Here” (hear that song below).

Lynch has show much appreciation for Lykke Li. He said in a statement that…

“She brought her own style to this song, which has a doo-wop sort of thing going on, but in a way it’s far-removed from the ’50s.”

In the same statement, Lynch explained that most of the songs on Big Dream “start out as a type of blues jam and then we go sideways from there.”  He mentioned that the Blues is “an honest and emotional form of music that is thrilling to the soul,” and makes one feel good.
