Because everyone knows it’s not possible for her to make news with something like, I don’t know, music or something, Avril Lavigne made news this weekend with her boyfriend Brody Jenner when the two “sustained several cuts and bruises following a brawl at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.”
This is the first week this year where we’ve showcased a true mix in music genres for the Album of the Week article. March looks promising with a large amount or releases, and this week we’ve discovered some good and bad CD releases in rock, country, and hip hop. Check them out below:
Where’s Avril Lavinge been lately? After releasing her not-quite-accurately named album The Best Damn Thing nearly four years ago, the pop singer has been largely absent from the music scene, due in part to a major tour and a side business involving a line of clothing and fragrances. However, for better or for worse, that’s set to change next year when her new album, Goodbye Lullaby, is unleashed on the masses.
First, R&B pop rincess Rihanna goes ahead and collaborates with fruit obsessed prima donna Katy Perry. Now she’s lamenting over the fact that she really wanted to sing with punk wannabe, Avril Lavigne. We’re not completely against Rihanna. She’s definitely learned to grow as an artist and has come a long way from her days of “Pon de Replay” first hitting the radio waves. Just behind Beyonce, Rihanna has done a pretty great job at keeping her career afloat despite the chaos she’s had to endure with her ex-boyfriend.
March 5th is coming up fast for fans of Tim Burton and/or the classic tale titled Alice In Wonderland. When Tim Burton first revealed he was working with Johnny Depp on a darker version of the story, who wasn’t excited? Sweeney Todd was back in 2007 and let’s face it, The Corpse Bride provided redemption for the disappointing Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. So, when Burton announced he was taking a stab at another classic, a very surreal and hippie-friendly one at that, our ears perked up and our eyes have been on the lookout.
