At the 2009 Grammys, when Radiohead‘s In Rainbows lost out to Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’ Raising Sand for Album of the Year I was crushed. But in that heart-breaking moment I learned that Led Zeppelin‘s frontman was a legend and he could do no wrong, even when Radiohead is his competition. This year, Plant is releasing another collaborative record only this time with Band of Joy. On September 14th, they’ll release their self-titled album via Rounder Records. This will be Plant’s first record since the six-time Grammy Award winning Raising Sand.

Robert Plant is recruiting a notable group of musicians for a 12-city tour to preview music from his upcoming, and presently unnamed, new album from Rounder Records, set for release later this year.

Hitting the road under the name Robert Plant and the Band of Joy, the musicians accompanying Plant on the album and tour include vocalist Patty Griffin, multi-instrumentalist Darrell Scott, bassist Byron House and drummer Marco Giovino. The band also includes guitarist Buddy Miller, who co-produced the forthcoming album.

The tour begins July 13 in Memphis, Tenn. Check below for a full tour schedule!
