Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform their legendary, 1975 album Born to Run in its entirety when the tour hits Chicago’s United Center on September 20th, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The band will play other songs, of course, but the full Born to Run is what should generate the most buzz among fans. Besides the famous title song, the album features “Thunder Road,” “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out,” “Night,“ “Backstreets,” “Meeting Across the River,” “She’s the One” and “Jungleland” – all standout tracks and concert favorites through the years.
And now all eight songs performed together in one set.

Not satisfied with Ticketmaster’s settlement with New Jersey, New York Senator Charles Schumer has continued his assault on the company, telling them today that it should sell TicketsNow, the ticket resale site that was at the center of the Bruce Springsteen controversy. Schumer rejected Ticketmaster’s description of the incident as a mere software glitch, calling it “more about money than malfunction,” a statement supported by his observation that a ticket sold on Ticketmaster netted the company $7 while a ticket sold on TicketsNow netted $30. Monday saw a new development in one of the cases against Ticketmaster, the one brought by the state of New Jersey for Ticketmaster diverting traffic from its site to an affiliate that charged higher prices. In the particular incident in question, customers who attempted to buy tickets for Bruce Springsteen’s show at the Meadowlands on Ticketmaster were informed that the show was sold out and sent to Ticketsnow, a ticket resale site that was charging prices up to 50 times face value. Over 2000 people complained to the state and Bruce Springsteen himself came out against the company. The state Attorney General then took up the case, demanding Ticketmaster discontinue such activities.

The Glastonbury music festival, UK’s top music festival, doesn’t handle things the way American music festivals do. Instead of telling people the make-up of the year’s lineup, the festival’s organizers sell tickets before anyone knows who will be performing. It seems to work, as the tickets sold out quickly this year, even though the festival requires people who want tickets to pre-register, which requires the submission of contact information and a passport photo. If that happened in this country, people would complain like crazy that the festival couldn’t legally collect such information.

Following up on our story from yesterday, there is both good and bad news about Ticketmaster, although the bad far outweighs the good. The good news is that Bruce Springsteen himself has taken up the fight against Ticketmaster, as has the New Jersey state Attorney General. On his official site, Springsteen has posted a letter condemning Ticketmaster for trying to gouge his fans by redirecting them to higher-priced tickets at TicketsNow when face-value tickets still remained. He has ordered Ticketmaster to cease and desist the practice. Meanwhile, the Attorney General has launched an investigation of Ticketmaster after receiving over 250 complaints. Additional complaints can be filed at njconsumeraffairs.gov. So maybe now there’s an actual chance that Ticketmaster won’t do this again, which is definitely good.
