Musicians love Mexico. Whether it be for its beautiful sights or delicious food, Musicians are always naming songs after the country south of California. Seeing as its Cinco de Mayo, we decided to celebrate by putting together a list of the Top 5 Songs dedicated to Mexico, or à la Mexicana. Take a listen and enjoy this national celebration, after all, it’s us who are north of the border, who celebrate it more.

Everyone is good at something. For Long Beach’s Cold War Kids it is the way they tell stories live. It’s not just the sound of lead singer Nathan Willet’s angelic voice, or the way Matt Maust parades his playful dance moves while strumming the cords on his bass: their magic is in the words.
Over the past decade the ‘kids’ have made a name for themselves in the coveted world of indie rock. Despite their popularity level, the CWK played an emotional sold-out show at the Wiltern Friday night.

Cold War Kids have just released their brand new EP, Behave Yourself, via Downtown Records. Their first single, “Audience,” is piano-heavy but still echos the shaking, beating, and clapping sounds we’re familiar with.
They’ve also recently released a music video to accompany the single and the storyline of the video meets the guts of the lyrics. Girlfriends, boyfriends, drama, and relationship decisions are the focus of this video. Check it out below!

The MTV Video Music Awards released their nominees for Best Breakthrough Video earlier this week. Just like we were impressed with MTV’s Top Albums of 2009 list, we are amazed at how much depth this nominee list has.
The Breakthrough Video category have been absent from the awards show on and off for the past few years, but we’re excited to see it’s back. We’re especially elated that many of the video nominees feature a handful of indie artists! Artist videos include Bat for Lashes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Matt and Kim, Death Cab for Cutie and more. Now we know that the video filmmakers/directors get to take this award home, but we can’t help but think it’s rad that they’ve worked with some of our favorite artists.
Take a look after the jump and watch all the videos that made the list!

The Cold War Kids have just debuted their new experimental interactive music video for their song “I’ve Seen Enough,” which allows fans to play endless different versions of the song. The video, directed by Tool of North America’s Sam Jones, (Wilco’s I Am Trying to Break Your Heart), was designed specifically to be presented in parallel parts online and then remixed by fans, even mid-play – and is being released solely for the Web.
Each member was filmed on a darkly lit stage, playing their parts on vibraphone, guitar, bass, keyboard, standup bass, and more. These versions were recorded so the parts can be mixed together or played on their own.

Wow. Watch out Coachella, there’s a new festival in town. Who knew that one of the most unique lineups you’d ever seen would be held at Bicentennial Park in Miama. The Langerado Music Festival is where the above photo was taken, so I guess it’s fair to say, they’ve does this kind of thing before. But they mix up everything from Flogging Molly, to Snoop Dogg, and Death Cab for Cutie, to Girl Talk. How cool is that?

Ever want to know a little bit more about the Cold War Kids? About a year ago, they appeared to spring up over night. But nothing is ever that easy. They have just released their awesome docu-film called 02.08 to 06.08, that will be featured exclusively on Youtube for one week only. 02.08 to 06.08, is a 34 minute film, directed by Vern Moen about the Cold War Kids and the making of Loyalty to Loyalty.
The film, like the bands music, is beautifully made. It includes loads of behind the scenes studio footage, and interviews with the band and their families. It shows where they all came from and what drove them to make the music we all love today. After the one week is up, you can buy the film with the deluxe edition of the Loyalty to Loyalty, which is available now.
Watch 02.08 to 06.08 below for a limited time…
