It goes to show you—drop Madonna’s greatest hits into a blender, sprinkle a little Bowie on it and then cover it with AutoTune, and voila–you’re set. At least, according to MTV, who reports that pop oddball Lady Gaga has been named as one of Time Magazine’s Most Influential People. But, before you exclaim that this validates Gaga’s artistry and brilliance and whatever else the kids in the comments wall will claim, know that while the list includes such luminaries as President Barack Obama, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and Apple’s Steve Jobs, it also features such immortal icons as Taylor Swift and Robert Pattinson. As for which camp Gaga will fall in, only time (or record sales, either way) will tell.

There’s no doubt that Cyndi Lauper was the one the most eccentric pop stars of the 80s. Madonna may have played the sex appeal card, but Lauper went the wild and carefree route gaining her fans with songs such as “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” Fast forward a couple of years later, and she’s sitting next to a pop star doing the exact same thing in the new millennium.
Both Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper have teamed up to help promote the awareness of HIV/AIDs, with a special concern for the disease in women. The two sat down together for Good Morning America Wednesday morning (2/10) and not only discussed their campaign but their similarities within each other’s creativity in songwriting.

The Hives and Cyndi Lauper have recorded a Christmas song together appropriately titled “A Christmas Duel.” The track is set to be released via the Orchard on December 1st in the UK, and December 2nd in the United States.
If you’re dying to pick up the track (and want to save some cash) it will also be available to download for free Thanksgiving weekend (November 28th through November 30th) from the Hive’s website.
