Ever since Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band announced that they would be launching a world tour on March 9th at the Apollo Theater in support of Springsteen’s upcoming Wrecking Ball album,  fans have been intensely curious as to how Springsteen and the E-streeters would deal with absence of E-Street saxophonist Clarence Clemons, who died of a stroke last year.  Today, the band announced their decision.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be hitting the road come March 18th. Last year ‘The Boss announced that he and the band would ‘absolutely’ go on tour in 2012, and dates have just been announced. Springsteen will be touring to support his 17th upcoming album Wrecking Ball, which hits stores March 6th. Their tour includes stops in Georgia, New York and Los Angeles (to name a few). Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform an entire album from their back catalog each of the five nights they are set to perform at Giant Stadium the group announced late Monday night. Born to Run and Born in the USA will each be performed twice and Darkness on the Edge of Town will be played at the other show. Springsteen recently tested full-album performances in Chicago where they played Born to Run in the middle of their marathon set.

Pollstar, the leading authority on the subject of concert news, has released monetary figures on 2008′s concert tours.  Leading the way is Madonna, who brought in an astounding $105.3 million with her Sticky & Sweet tour.  It seems like the older the act, the better the revenue. The only groups/musicians who began their careers in the past 20 years are country acts Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts.
